WHOOP!

Yes, that's right, I said it. WHOOP. I got accepted into Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine!!! Class of 2016 :)

After a long grueling 5 year process, my hard work has paid off! I was one of 130ish students to be chosen for admittance into the CVM class of 2016 out of over 600! What an honor! I can't even begin to explain my relief! This is my lifelong dream that I developed when I was just a few years old. I know most kids want to be a teacher or a firefighter or a doctor, but when I said I wanted to be a vet I meant it! All of those all-nighters and pre-test anxieties are finally being rewarded! Well, kind of.

I couldn't have done it without the support and love from my friends and family, that's for sure. Poor RJ had to put up with my crazy school studying and grouchy moods for years! Poor guy. Thank you to those reading this post who played a part in this huge accomplishment!!! Even if it was sending support and love from Ohio!!! In this life, you can't do anything without family and friends. Now I have learned this from experience.

Okay it's starting to sound like I'm accepting an academy award or something!! Long and short of it, I know it isn't Ohio State, but Texas A&M is a highly respectable school among all vet medicine colleges and I couldn't be prouder or happier!!!

What comes next? Well, lots of paperwork and spending money! TAMU CVM (Texas A&M University, College of Vet. Medicine) provides an anatomy workshop as a preparation for the gross anatomy course I will take in the fall. It, of course, costs money! And requires living in College Station starting June 25. I really want to do this, but I will have to find a place to live (that is okay with dogs) by then and I'm not sure if that is possible!! I am already trying to look, and Grandma Nancy is helping alot too. So blessed to have her! I also have to get vaccinated for Rabies by August. No, no I am NOT foaming at the mouth nor am I afraid of water, but I may run into some critters that are. Have to be protected! $650 protected! Ugh. At least it's a one time expense, right?! I also have to get a meningitis vaccine. The way I see it, I have to be a pin cushion for the next couple of months just to know how the animals I will be treating as a pin cushion feel! It's only fair.

Anywho, what a great time to start a blog! So many exciting things are happening right now and I'm excited to share all of it! Well, most of it anyway. What's next for this Aggie? Heading to Arizona for spring break with Grandma Nancy! I hear there are lots of fun things planned and I cannot wait! Then March 24 RJ has arranged for us to go to a Seaworld-like amusement park to get a behind the scenes tour of the penguin exhibit and get to spend one-on-one time with a penguin!! If you didn't know, penguins are my favorite animal, so this is a BIG deal!!

Don't forget RJ is a Texas Longhorn!! For those of you who aren't familiar with the Texas rivalry, Texas A&M and Univ. of Texas fans HATE each other!!! All of RJ's family have been Aggies or have gone to Texas Tech, and he broke the norm and wanted to be a Longhorn! I can only imagine how he feels to be dating an Aggie!! (Although I am a Buckeye at heart, and a Longhorn fan ;) )

Until next time, GIG EM....WHOOP...and anything else Aggies are supposed to say!!

Happy Trails!!
