We're Engaged!!

We are SO HAPPY!
How BEAUTIFUL and PERFECT is this ring?! RJ picked it out all by himself :) It is everything I always dreamed of!!
As all of you probably know by now, WE ARE ENGAGED! RJ proposed early Saturday (March 24) morning. He had planned out a whole weekend for the two of us and our best friends that are another couple, Morgan and Brittney to go to Galveston to Moody Gardens and do a private penguin encounter. I immediately started watching videos on YouTube of what exactly would go on and I fell in love with a penguin named Marley. Her personality was just so adorable!!!!

So Saturday morning we woke up and headed to Galveston from Houston. We arrived at the penguin exhibit and met with the biologist that was going to do our penguin tour. First she told us about the different species of penguin in the world and showed us pictures and a map of where they are found. Then she took us to the kitchen where she told us about their diet and the fish they eat. At Moody Gardens they go through 250 lbs of fish each day!! Jeesh. After the kitchen she took us to a little viewing nook in the penguin exhibit. They were just on the other side of a chain link fence gate!!! So cool! Then she took us to a little room where the penguins do artwork (step on paint pads then walk across canvas). I was looking forward to this most!! The four of us were sitting in the room when the biologist came in with Marley!!!! That's when I should have known something was up :) But I didn't pay any attention to that! Granted I would have been happy if it was any penguin since they are my favorite animal. Anyway, the biologist told us about Marley and made her share her beautiful singing voice with us. I'm pretty sure RJ didn't find the screeching too enjoyable though ;) Time for painting came and she let us pick out the colors we wanted (another clue I didn't realize) so we went with pink (my favorite color) and blue (RJ's favorite color).  Marley got ready to paint and she hopped on the paper just like I wanted!!! So adorable. After the painting was over Marley came around for all of us to pet her... Scratch pet a penguin off the bucket list!!! After that the biologist handed me a canvas and while she turned around to get others she said "I'm not even sure I wrote the right date on there..." so I turned it over to look. On the back was a little note. As soon as I saw it I was shocked and speechless. I looked at RJ and he was starting to get one knee!!!!!!!!!!!! My heart was racing and I was just speechless and so surprised!!! He pulled the box out of his boot (super clever because I had already checked his pockets that morning just in case ;) ) Anyway he started to give his little speech and before he could finish opening up the box I already said yes!!! Then I finally looked at the ring and it was the most beautiful ring I have EVER seen!!!!! I couldn't have picked out anything that was more perfect for me. I love everything about it!!!! Especially the fact that it came from RJ :) :) :)

The rest of the day we walked around the aquarium and then went to the rainforest recreation. It was an awesome day!!! Then we dressed up and went to dinner at Tortuga Mexican restaurant. After dinner we went to the beach to take pictures in the sand :)

The weekend was absolutely perfect!!!!!  Morgan was the one who introduced us so it was really special that he was with us when we got engaged, and will be with us when we say "I do!" We had the best time with Morgan and Brittney and I'm so glad they shared the weekend with us :)

What made it even better was thinking about how much trouble RJ went through to plan everything. Not only did he plan for us to do the penguin thing, but he got them to use my favorite penguin!!! He went through so much trouble and work and I appreciate him so much!!!!!! The weekend was perfect and I am oh so very blessed to have him as my fiancĂ© :)

We are planning on getting married summer 2014 so he has time to finish school. It will be a long engagement which will leave me plenty of time to plan a party that will be 8 years in the making!

God has blessed each of us with the kind of love I have always dreamed of and I couldn't ask for anything more :)
I hope you enjoy the pictures!!!!

Spring Break in Arizona!

Well I had a great time in Arizona with Grandma Nancy! We had so so much fun.

Sunday: We woke up to a flat tire before church. Great start to the week huh?! After church we saw a play called "Nunsense" and it was pretty cute! Everyone in the audience was at least 70 but I still had a good time! I felt like I was really in shape seeing as how my walking speed was much faster than any other person at the show.
Monday: I got to experience my grandma's favorite daily activity: the White Elephant thrift store! Boy was that an experience. We didn't find any "treasures" but Grandma sure tried! Monday afternoon we drive to Kit Peak Observatory where we got a 5 hour tour of outer space. We looked through a telescope and learned how to use a star map with binoculars. Then we drove down the mountain with no headlights at night. Sounds fun, right? Wrong! But we did make it safely. We headed to Casino Del Sol hotel for the evening.

Tuesday: We woke up early and headed to the Sonora Desert Museum. It was really neat! And Grandma did a lot of walking. Poor lady! Then we went to the mall before playing an intense 5 hour session of Bingo. I got close soooo many times but never won! Darn.

Wednesday: After a late night of gambling at the casino hotel, we woke up and drove to San Xavier mission. So pretty!!!! Then we headed to Tubac where we got to shop for pretty turquoise things and a birthday present for my mom :)

Thursday: We went to the White Elephant once again but this time found some nice tips for Grandma. Nothing quite my style though :) That night we headed up to the gaslight theater and saw "The Two Amigos." we had so much fun! I got a brownie sundae that I'm sure made my blood sugar levels to shoot sky high, but it was good :)
Friday: We spent all day at Tombstone! I was scoping out all I the things for RJ and I to do next spring break when we head out there together.

The week was so much fun! I hadn't been in 10 years so it was a much needed trip! Grandma's house smelled the same way I remember :) it was a very relaxing and much needed break from my last semester of school!!
